Then along came the
4-wheelers. The best thing since smokeless powder. Oh the times
that we have dragged or carried bucks out of the briar patches
and thickets. The first time I rode one I knew we had to have
one, so Dad bought us the Honda in 1985. Made this deer hunting
thing "not so hard" on the back...
Gray at 8 with his
first buck...He was hunting from a ladder stand near the camp
when this buck came out to pick up acorns. He made the shot, got
down and while on the way back to get his Grandmother to help
him get his deer, he shot 4 squirrels. He walked into the kitchen
and she asked him why he was back so early. He handed his squirrels
to Grandmother and calmly said, "I shot a deer too."
This is a doe shot
by Gray (9 yrs.) with a .30-.30 Marlin Model 36A. He shot at the
deer running across a field. He shot 3 times... hitting twice.
