2000 Spring Turkey Season

The opening weekend of the Georgia Turkey Season was one of the most pleasant openers I can remember. The weather was near perfect and the gobblers were vocal. I visited my Dad's club in middle Georgia and enjoyed the opening weekend in the pine plantations and sand hills.

I scared every bird I saw and didn't fire a shot but that wasn't the case for Dad...

...Late in the weekend, Vernon Holt bagged his 20 lb. gobbler just in time to get pictures before dark. The bird had 7/8" spurs and a 9 1/4" spiral beard on the eve of his 73rd birthday...
